Eating healthy can sometimes seem like a challenge, but when you have an accountability partner in the form of a significant other, it can greatly help your commitment. To help keep your dinners at their best, here are a few quick healthy recipes you can use.
One of the ways Vietnamese cuisine stands out is through its use of herbs. The successful preparation of delicious Vietnamese food relies on fresh herbs – omit the herbs or use them incorrectly and you completely change the nature of the dish. When you eat good Vietnamese food you’ll notice how fragrant and tasty the dishes are, which is all down to the clever use of these interesting herbs.
Catering in Birmingham is big business and there are lots of different vendors providing a similar (yet often very different) service. Hiring caterers doesn’t need to cause you too much stress; in fact, it should relieve you of a lot of stress, allowing you to concentrate on nothing but your special occasion. However, you don’t want to hire any old caterers, so we have a few tips on ensuring you get the best caterers for your money.
Let’s admit it: we all love to snack once in a while, especially if we are always on the go and hardly have any time to sit down to a ‘real’ lunch or supper. But snacking comes with its own drawbacks, as we all know. With the variety of snacks nowadays, who’s to say that what you are eating is even remotely healthy or good for you? Snacking smart is increasingly difficult, what with the proliferation of high-fat, high cholesterol, high preservative, and high sugar foods we can find in virtually any shop and supermarket today.
Processed food has received a good deal of bad publicity recently. The health lobby points to the amount of salt that is used to help with its preservation. They also wonder whether people know how much sugar goes into what would seemingly be ‘harmless’ things like sauces. Fizzy drinks, sweets and biscuits have plenty of sugar but its use is far more widespread. Too much sugar and salt are harmful. The publicity goes beyond this however. There is an increasing feeling that food companies should be far more open and detailed in the labelling of their products. Processed meat is a case in point.
Sausages, burgers, pies and ready meals are very popular in the UK. The problem is that they are not always as they seem. The scandal of the use of horsemeat has not been forgotten. When consumers look at mince on a supermarket shelf some of them still have a nagging doubt whether the beef mince label they look at is entirely accurate.
I wanted to share this great tasting little recipe I have been using.
EASY 10 MINUTE FAT BURNING PASTA RECIPE:
Okay, the main idea here is to include a certain type of pasta that is much higher in fiber than regular pastas, BUT also to include several other nutrient rich foods in the process.
This makes it a VERY satisfying meal, so you don’t end up eating endless amounts of carbs, which is usually what happens when you are served a traditional pasta dish.
So here’s the recipe:
1. 8 oz. of multigrain pasta (I use Trader Joe’s Multigrain with Flax)
2. 1 bag organic frozen broccoli
3. 1/2 bag organic frozen peas
4. 2 boneless chicken breasts (I use organic free-range)
5. 8 oz. tomato sauce (I use Trader Joe’s sauces made from organic plum tomatoes)
6. Additional Italian seasoning if desired
Bring water to a boil then reduce to medium high heat. Throw the pasta in first for about 5 minutes, then follow with the frozen veggies for another 5 minutes or so.
Finally add, the chicken breast (which you will have pre cooked), drain the water, and stir in the tomato sauce.
This will get you about 4 servings, with each serving providing about:
36 grams protein
42 grams carbs
8 grams fat
11 grams fiber
The only problem with this meal is it could use a bit more fat! So sometimes I’ll add a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil after it’s finished cooking. (to the whole amount, not per serving!)
The real secret in this recipe is that we’re using a type of pasta that includes a high amount of fiber compared to the total carbs…this slows the blood sugar spike you’d get when eating regular white pastas.
And of course by mixing it in balance with the chicken and high nutrient veggies, you have a delicious, nutritious fat burning meal…
I was recommended to try FBF from a friend of mine who had lost 10 lbs in just 2 weeks using this system. As I was on a weight loss spree, I checked out their website.
Fat Burning Furnace is unlike any other program out there. The author of this system is Rob Poulos who also owns a company called “Zero To Hero Fitness, LLC”. He and his wife Karen Poulos were both overweight and both of them lost over 100 lbs just by exercising 45 mins per week AND eating yummy foods all day.
They discarded all fat loss myths and came up with a system of their own and called it Fat Burning Furnace. What appealed to me the most is that over 10,000 people all over the world have had success with this program – so I decided to give it a go.
So what’s inside Fat Burning Furnace? I’ll reveal the juicy tid bits in my next post.
